ABOUT THE CONGRESS
The 2024 International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS) – Philippine Chapter Conference will be hosted by the Benguet State University. The conference intends to follow-up on the success of the 2023 Conference and to advance ISSAAS’ objective to encourage the holistic approach to problems and promote the progress and development of science and technology through research and publication for regional agricultural development.
Currently, the global population stands at 7.6 billion and is expected to reach 8.6 billion by 2030, 9.8 billion by 2050, and 11.2 billion by 2100 (UN DESA). In 2010, scientists estimated that a 56% increase in food production by 2050 is needed to feed the growing population. Although experts believe that this increase is achievable with current agricultural practices, it could have catastrophic effects on the planet.
In this context, the 2024 ISSAAS Conference focuses on resiliency and sustainability of agriculture through Science, Technology, Innovation, and Policy Formulation.
This year’s ISSAAS Conference provide a venue that will bring together change agents and future shapers for the Agriculture Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR) sector. The conference will have four plenary topics anchored on the subthemes: Showcasing cutting edge science and technology and innovations in AANR; Agroecology strategies for climate resilience and sustainable AANR; Post-production innovations, nutrition and food science; and Socio-economics, policy and culture.
The Benguet State University as the conference host, is a premier institution promoting science and technology-based interventions through excellent research and extension activities. The university is dedicated to contribute to advancing agriculture, pursue research excellence, provide avenues for shaping AANR through conferences and fora, and collaborate with local, national, and international partners.

DR. PRISCILLA C. SANCHEZ AWARDS
This award is a prestigious recognition and honor bestowed for excellence in Research and Leadership in the International Society of Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS) Philippines.
The awards mark the distinction of "excellence in leadership and research in agriculture and scientific communities" among members and affiliates of ISSAAS.
The Dr. Priscilla C. Sanchez awards - Leadership Excellence, Excellence in Research, Recognition of Scientific Cooperation, are given every two years. This was launched during the 2005 ISSAAS Convention in Tagaytay City.
The trophy, P.C. Sanchez Award is an obstruction of essence of the Society’s Objective which is to promote the progress and development of science and technology related to agriculture. The twin areas of concern is depicted by two horns of knowledge side by side soaring into a gentle curve to an orbit in the space slowly but surely getting bigger and bigger. It’s a twin blades of leaves from a healthy seed deep in the soil that symbolizes the essence of agriculture.
